The Dark Side of Photography

In 1839, John Herschel coined the term “photography”, parsed from its Greek origin “writing with light”, instead of the commonly used misnomer “drawing with light”. In this regard, photography is similar to writing. But there is a significant difference.

How can I write about the light, or more precisely, narrate it? How does the viewer perceive (read) it? Simple. Nothing but light in the darkness. With the use of a shadow. My weapon is the shadow. My shield for writing narratives with light. It makes no difference whether it is natural or artificial. My goal is to create and capture shadows and darkness in order to tell the story of light.

That’s my story.
